The story

The box has been quiet for nine years.

Nine years ago, Elva and her mother found a baby in a basket in the forest. They called him Ben. Around his neck was a little golden dragon, and they put it away in a special box.

Now the golden dragon has woken up. It sparkles. It feels almost alive. And it seems to say:

Come here.

So Elva follows it into the forest, where a talking rabbit, a guardian with eyes like little fires and a big surprise are waiting.

Seven chapters

Follow the golden thread

From a basket between mossy stones to a thief in the hidden parts of the forest: this is the path Elva walks.

Young Elva and her mother find a baby boy in a straw basket between mossy stones and ferns.

Chapter 1

The Child in the Basket

Picking blueberries deep in the forest, Elva and her mum hear a sound that is not a bird. Between green stones and tall plants waits a straw basket…

“Hello, little one… are you afraid?”
Elva holds the golden dragon necklace up to the sunlit window.

Chapter 2

The Forgotten Necklace

Nine years later: a slammed door, a big sister with shiny eyes, and a golden dragon lying on the floor. It sparkles more than she remembered…

“I must find out where the golden dragon belongs.”
Cutie the rabbit, in his green scarf, holds a cookie and tries very hard to look cool beside Elva.

Chapter 3

The Rabbit Cutie

Hot chocolate, yummy cookies and a small brown rabbit who is very, very cool. Mostly. He is on a mission too.

“Mmm… I’m only eating it for energy.”
A joyful hug in a sunlit clearing while Ash Woman, guardian of the forest, watches.

Chapter 4

Ash Woman and the Reunion

In the hidden parts of the forest stands its guardian, with clothes like leaves and bark and eyes like little fires. She has a question.

“We are not looking for trouble. We are looking for family.”
Elva, Ben and the two rabbits share hot chocolate inside a cosy fort of branches.

Chapter 5

Home Again

A picnic, dark clouds, a drop on Elva’s nose. Then two. Then lots! Time for Ben’s good idea.

“Let’s build a cosy fort where we can be warm!”
Elva places the golden dragon necklace around Ben's neck on a wet forest path.

Chapter 6

On the Way

A lucky charm, a slippery path after the rain… and a soft noise behind them, as if someone was following.

“This is your lucky charm.”
Elva chatters about flowers to Ash Woman while Ben creeps up behind her like a spy.

Chapter 7

The Thief

Something smells of smoke. One of them must talk about flowers, the other must be a very quiet spy.

“We must be smart. Not just angry.”

…and the forest whispered:

This was only the beginning.
